Claude
Set up Claude
Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code all connect to the same server url.
Claude.ai and Claude Desktop
Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans
- Open Settings and then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, name it 4insight and paste the server url.
- Choose Connect and sign in with your company account.
- Turn the connector on in a chat, from the tools menu under the message box.
On Team and Enterprise plans an owner may have added it already, see added by your organisation.
Claude Code
In your terminal
Add the server for yourself:
claude mcp add --transport http 4insight https://mcp-qa.4subsea.io/mcp
Or for everyone working in a repository, in .mcp.json at its root:
{
"mcpServers": {
"4insight": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp-qa.4subsea.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose 4insight to sign in.
GitHub Copilot
Set up Copilot
Use 4insight from Copilot Chat in agent mode, in VS Code, Visual Studio and the Copilot CLI.
VS Code
Copilot Chat in agent mode
Or add it to a workspace, in .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"4insight": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp-qa.4subsea.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Choose Start above the server, and sign in when VS Code asks you to.
Visual Studio
2022 17.14 or later
Add .mcp.json next to your solution, or in your user profile folder for every solution:
{
"servers": {
"4insight": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp-qa.4subsea.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Open Copilot Chat in agent mode, pick the 4insight tools and sign in when asked.
Copilot CLI
In your terminal
Run /mcp add in copilot, or add it to ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"4insight": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp-qa.4subsea.io/mcp",
"tools": [
"*"
]
}
}
}
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Set up Microsoft 365 Copilot
In Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams, 4insight comes as an agent. Someone with Copilot Studio sets it up once; everyone it is shared with can then use it.
Create the agent
In Copilot Studio, once
- In Copilot Studio, create a new agent, for example 4insight.
- Under Tools, choose Add a tool, New tool and Model Context Protocol.
- Name the server 4insight, paste the server url, and use this description:
Reads 4insight timeseries data, groups and slices as the signed-in user.
- Under Authentication, choose OAuth 2.0 and Dynamic discovery, then Create.
- Create a new connection, sign in with your company account, and choose Add and configure.
- In the tool's settings, let it use end user credentials, so everyone sees their own 4insight data.
Publish it to Microsoft 365
In Copilot Studio, once
- Choose Publish.
- Under Channels, choose Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot and Add channel.
- Share the agent with the people or groups who should use it. Your Microsoft 365 admin may need to approve it first.
Then, for everyone
Open Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams, pick the 4insight agent, and sign in with your company account the first time it uses a 4insight tool.
Server url for the tool: https://mcp-qa.4subsea.io/mcp
Added by your organisation
Guide coming soonYour organisation can make 4insight MCP available to everyone, so you skip adding the server url yourself. In Claude it then shows up under Settings, Connectors, ready to connect; in GitHub Copilot it comes from your organisation's MCP server list. You still sign in with your own company account. A step by step guide for this is on its way.
